Jamea Richmond-Edwards is a celebrated mixed-media artist whose work honors the
black women who surrounded her as she grew up in Detroit. Largely inspired the paper
dolls she played with as a child, her figures evoke beauty, strength and dignity despite
the difficult lives they may have.
